SPORT SPORT SPORT SPORT
EHS Swimming Sports
This year's EHS Swimming Sports was held as a Twilight Meet at the Greensborough Swimming Pool on Tuesday, 22nd February. In ideal conditions, the standard of competition and the degree of participation by the students was most pleasing. During the course of the evening there were seven school records broken. A highlight of the evening were the clashes between Beth Girbau and Jessica Choong (both girls U15). In three events - the 50m Freestyle, 200m Freestyle and the 200m Individual Medley - both girls went stroke for stroke with only the barest of margins separating them, and both went well under the existing school records. In the 50m Butterfly, the place judges declared it impossible to separate the pair and gave the result as a draw. The new school records were set by:
Beth Girbau GU15 50m Freestyle (31.02)
GU15 200m Ind.Medley(2:45.45)
GU15 200m Freestyle (2:22.7.4)
Jessica Choong GU21 400m Freestyle (5:12)
Alison Lonsdale GU21 50m Butterfly (40.33)
Blair Ewart BU15 200m Freestyle (2:43.45)
Blake Griffiths BU16 50m Butterfly (32.18)

The Eltham team was helped by the great leadership provided by the senior students in the team. PAST STUDENTS' ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP
The Past Students' Association Scholarship was presented at last week's Middle School Assembly. Last year's year 9 students were asked to write about their career aspirations and hopes for the future. The scholarship was shared this year between Shae Skinner and Alistair Parsons. We wish both students well in achieving the goals they have set themselves. Congratulations.
Barry Hutton on behalf of Middle School Co-ordinators and The Past Students' Association.
PARKING IN THE SCHOOL GROUNDS
Following on from the new bus bay arrangements there is now more car parking available in Withers Way along the front of the sports stadium. When visiting the school we ask that you please park in designated parking areas and not on the internal roads. Please under no circumstances park on the grassed areas as this causes unnecessary damage to the grass and compaction of soil under trees that may eventually kill the trees. Anyway, the grass and shade is for students, not for cars. We urge parents to only drop off students in the drop off area near the hall or in the nearby streets. Please do not enter the staff car parking areas.
SCHOOL PHOTOS
- The photographers advise that photos will be at the school for distribution to students very early in term 2.STUDENT INJURY PESONAL ACCIDENT INSURANCE
EHS participates in a student accident insurance scheme that we believe provides good value to families. Jardine Lloyd Thompson is the insurer, and the cost of 12 months insurance from 31.3.2000 to 31.3.2001 is $13.00 per student. Details and application forms are available from the school office.
