Our History.

Most of the history provided here is from “Eltham High School a State Secondary College”, a publication produced to commemorate the school’s 40th anniversary providing a history compiled by Greg Thomas and many others. Other excerpts have been taken from, “Eltham High School, A History, 1926-1978” compiled by Max Balchin.

Eltham High School’s history began in 1926 when it was known as Eltham Higher Elementary School for two decades. It was not officially proclaimed as a high school until 1949, becoming known as Eltham High School from 1950. The following history will provide excerpts from its rural beginning to its present status as a large urban state secondary college.
